HBx causes mutations that affect a multitude of different pathways, several of which have been well-studied and accepted. However, little is known how HBx mutates and/or deregulates Hippo, a pathway responsible for the regulation of organ size through various cell processes including proliferation and apoptosis.
What happens when Hippo is mutated by X?
My research will use HBx-transgenic mice to study the ability of HBx to alter the hippo pathway in order to illuminate the effects of hippo deregulation on the development of Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
